What's in the box

  • Battery pack
  • USB-C cable

The battery pack clips securely onto your Xbox wireless controller and connects via the expansion port. The USB-C cable allows you to charge from any USB-C or USB-A port.

Charging options

  • From a wall charger - Connect the USB-C cable to any USB wall charger.
  • From a USB port - Plug into any USB-A port on a computer, console, or power bank.
  • From a compatible mobile device - Connect to your phone or tablet's USB-C port.

Charging time

The battery pack takes about 3 hours to fully charge. You can get up to 30 hours of gameplay per charge.

The integrated LED battery indicator lights let you check the charge level at a glance. With the included cable, you can play and charge simultaneously so you never have to stop gaming.

With the convenience of on-the-go charging, you'll never have to worry about your Xbox controller running out of juice again!

How to get extra battery life for your Xbox controller?

The Black Microsoft Battery Pack for Xbox controllers provides up to 30 hours of gameplay per charge. Here are some tips to maximize your battery life and get even more playtime between charges:

Adjust brightness

Dimming the Xbox controller's brightness helps conserve battery power. Go to Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories to adjust the brightness level.

Disable vibration

Turning off vibration feedback can extend battery life. Go to Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories and disable vibration.

Turn off headset

  • If you have an Xbox wireless headset, turn it off when not in use.
  • Disconnecting or powering down headsets saves battery charge.

Use cable for gameplay

For long play sessions, use the included USB-C cable to connect your controller to the console. This powers the controller directly instead of draining the battery.

Completely power down

When not using your controller for an extended period:

  1. Press and hold the Xbox button to turn off the controller.
  2. Unclip the battery pack and disconnect it from the expansion port.

This prevents the battery from slowly draining while the controller is idle. Clip it back in when ready to play again.

With these battery saving tips, you can maximize your playtime and get days of extra life from each charge of the Battery Pack for Xbox controllers.

How to use the battery indicator lights?

The Black Microsoft Battery Pack for Xbox controllers has an integrated LED battery indicator to show you the remaining charge level. Here's how to use and interpret the lights:

Checking the lights

To check the charge level, simply press the Xbox button on your controller. The LED lights will display for a few seconds.

Light Indicators

  • 4 lights - 75-100% battery remaining
  • 3 lights - 50-75% battery remaining
  • 2 lights - 25-50% battery remaining
  • 1 light - Less than 25% remaining

For example, if you press the Xbox button and only see 2 lights, your battery is around 50% charged.

While charging

When you connect the battery pack to charge, the lights will flash to indicate charging progress:

  • Flashing lights - Charging in progress
  • Solid lights - Fully charged

Once all 4 lights stop flashing and remain solid, the battery is completely charged and ready for a full session of gaming.

Low battery warning

When the battery gets very low, the indicator will flash red. At this point you have about 5% charge left. Connect the USB-C cable to continue playing and charging.

Using the battery indicator lights allows you to quickly check power levels, know when to charge, and avoid having your controller die mid-game.
